7 goaler Cruz Heguy will be making his debut in the Argentine Triple Crown with his Father Ruso Heguy's old team, Indios Chapaleufu. He will be playing alongside cousin Antonio Heguy (winner of the Gold Cup with Dubai Polo Team). After a great UK season, he is definitely a young player to watch as his high goal career flourishes.
Here we take a look at his performance in the UK season for Gaston Polo Team.
Season Stats:
- 47 goals from 7 games.
- 60% accuracy within the 60 yard line.
- 30/38 penalties resulting in a 78.9% accuracy rate from the penalty line.
It is worth noting that there was a dramatic improvement stats wise from Queen's Cup to Gold Cup for Cruz.
In the Queen's Cup he scored 18 goals (6 from the field) with a field goal accuracy of 37.5% and a penalty accuracy of 75% (12/16) while in the Gold Cup, these numbers went up significantly to 29 goals (11 from the field) with a field goal accuracy of 52.4% and a penalty accuracy of 81.8% (18/22). His performance improved across the board including:
- 1 knock in in the Queen's Cup compared to 22 in the Gold Cup.
- 1 assist in the Queen's vs 5 in the Gold.
- Credited wth 9 throw ins in the Queen's compared to 13 in the Gold.
- 8 fouls against him in the Queen's vs just 3 in the Gold.
As well as the natural improvement that would be expected throughout the season as players become more used to their teams, the fields and the horses, another change that could have initiated this improvement is a move to playing a more "back" role in the team. He began to take the knock ins in the Gold Cup and this had a positive affect on his performance potentially placing him better on the field to make the most of his strengths including:
Ride-off
Steal
Shooting
