The second day of competition in the 5th Abierto Argentino Femenino produced dominant victories for EL Overo Z7 UAE, La Aguada Rioplatense, La Dolfina BP and La Irenita Libra Seguros, at Pilar. In the opening match of the day, El Overo Z7 UAE defeated Thai Polo Nearside 14-8, while La Aguada Rioplatense also claimed a commanding win over El Silencio Breva Farms 15-4. In the final two matches of the day, La Dolfina BP dominated Magual Ladiespolo.ie 22-3, as La Irenita Libra Seguros handily defeated La Ensenada Fravega 16-6.

Two-time defending champions El Overo Z7 UAE continued their title bid with an imposing 14-8 victory against Thai Polo Nearside. Maitena Marré opened the scoring for Thai Polo Nearside but El Overo Z7 immediately responded with four consecutive goals. 10-goaler Lia Salvo contributed an impressive six goals on the day for El Overo Z7 UAE, including converting 4-5 goals from the penalty line. El Overo Z7 UAE’s ability to keep Thai Polo Nearside off the scoreboard in the third and fourth chukkers allowed them to accumulate a successful offensive run leading to the 14-8 victory.

The second game of the day featured La Aguada Rioplatense facing off against El Silencio Breva Farms. Currently sitting atop Zone A alongside El Overo Z7 UAE, La Aguada Rioplatense’s Inés Lalor kicked off the match, as La Aguada Rioplatense would go on to score six consecutive goals in the third and fourth chukkas on the cumulative efforts of Jazmín Dupont, Azucena Uranga and Mía Novillo Astrada. Shooting 75% and finishing with four field goals, Novillo Astrada emerged with the most goals scored on the day, as La Aguada Rioplatense’s balanced offensive attack saw them emerge 15-4 victors.

Zone B competition opened with La Dolfina BP against Magual Ladiespolo.ie, with La Dolfina BP continuing their dominant play in an outstanding 22-3 victory. Candelaria Fernández contributed seven goals from the field for La Dolfina BP, while teammate Mia Cambiaso followed closely with a 75% shooting percentage, scoring six goals of her own. Ultimately, Magual Ladiespolo.ie’s inability to generate any offence to match the formidable duo of Fernández and Cambiaso saw La Dolfina BP remain undefeated and rise to the top of Zone B.

Completing Day 2 of competition, La Irenita Libra Seguros met La Ensenada Fravega. American competitor Hope Arellano struck first for La Irenita Liba Seguros and ultimately finished with three goals. Controlling play from the outset, La Irenita Libra Seguros scored seven unanswered goals before Clara Martínez Ferrario could finally get La Ensenada Fravega on the board in the third on a successful penalty conversion. With La Ensenada Fravega unable to further a comeback, La Irenita Libra Seguros rode their momentum into the final chukker, scoring another five goals, including three from Mili Sanchez to seal their dominant victory 16-6.
