The H. Ben Taub Memorial began on September 17, 2021 at Houston Polo Club with BTA and Pegasus/Propaganda kicking-off the 8-goal tournament in a tight first match, as Pegagus/Propaganda managed to secure a narrow 10-9 victory.
The first chukker saw Pegasus/Propaganda’s Mason Wroe striking first, however back-to-back goals from BTA’s Steve Kreuger started his total goal contribution of six off the mallet. Close defensive play in the field allowed for few scoring opportunities, however, a two goal addition from Pegasus/Propaganda’s David Andras led the two teams into a 3-3 tie at halftime. The opening of the fourth ushered in a renewed offensive effort from both teams, as they steadily exchanged goals, as Mason Wroe tacked on the last goal of the chukker for Pegasus/Propaganda. The fifth chukker opened with another momentum swing as BTA’s Steve Krueger and KC Kreuger added three consecutive goals, tying the game once again 8-8 entering the final chukker. Despite committing thirteen fouls throughout the match, Pegasus/Propaganda were able to lean on their strong defensive play in the field and finish the game as it started, with two goals from Mason Wroe resulting in the final 10-9 score.
