On October 10, BTA faced off against Horsegate/Tonkawa in the Carlton & Keleen Beal Cup at Houston Polo Club. Horsegate/Tonkawa were unable to score in the first half and despite an attempt to comeback in the latter chukkers of the match, BTA prevailed as 9-5 victors.

Nicolai Galindo and Steve Kreuger began the scoring for BTA in the first. Kreuger’s momentum continued in the second chukker with another two field goals on five shots carried into the third, adding his fourth goal of the half. Horsegate/Tonkawa combined for five shots in the first half including a penalty attempt from Shane Rice in second chukker but were unable to find the goal as BTA took a commanding 5-0 lead at halftime.

BTA’s Kreuger’s penalty goal in the fourth chukker was quickly followed by Jimmy Steward’s first goal of the match for Horsegate/Tonkawa, as Steward would also provide an assist for Rice to knock-in a goal of his own. Jeff Hildebrand would post a goal from the field for Horsegate/Tonkawa but the efforts of BTA’s Kreuger and Galindo saw two more successful scoring drives to end the fifth chukker. Kruger would begin the sixth scoring his last of seven goals on the day and despite a late two goal push from Horsegate/Tonkawa’s Steward and Rice, BTA would take their early advantage to the finish line, ending the match 9-5.
