
The second semi-final of the 2021 Gerald Balding hosted by Cirencester Park Polo Club resulted in Coppid Owls maintaining their undefeated run through the tournament, defeating Stella Lumen 6-4.
Coppid Owls’ nunbeaten record was in doubt in the first half as Coppid Owls were held to just one goal on seven shots, running into a tough Stella Lumen team that looked determine to book their place in the final. Michael Howe converted a Penalty 4 while Nina Clarkin scored from the field to give Stella Lumen the 2-1 lead entering halftime, but a reorganized Coppid Owls team showed why they were undefeated with a dominant second half. Led by the play of Tamara Fox who finished with three goals, Coppid Owls stormed back over the final two chukkas, winning eight of 10 throw-ins to maintain possession and keep the pressure on Stella Lumen. Two final goals from Fox sealed the 6-4 victory and sending Coppid Owls into the final.
