Hascombe Stud Uses the Penalty Line to Capture Victory in The Gerald Balding

Cirencester Park Polo Club
The first semifinal of the 2021 Gerald Balding at the Cirencester Park Polo Club featured an exciting overtime finish as Hascombe Stud scored four of their five goals from the penalty line, including the golden goal by Tommy Severn to defeat Robyn Skincare 5-4.

A game of momentum swings resulted in Hascombe Stud beginning play with a dominant first chukka, outscoring Robyn Skincare 2-0 on goals from Tom Beim and Severn, but it was short-lived as Robyn Skincare raced into the lead on three consecutive goals, two off the mallet of Will Penfold. Unable to score from the field in the second half, Hascombe Stud’s offense came from the penalty line, where Severn converted two of his four opportunities. Overcoming a red card that left them a player short, Hascombe Stud forced overtime where an impressive Penalty 4 conversion from Severn sent them into the finals.
