La Dolfina Saudi won the Semi-final of the Hurlingham Open on Sunday, winning 18-17 against Ellerstina UAE Yellow Rose at the Hurlingham Polo Club.
The great rivalry between these two teams is not what it used to be given that the Ellerstina team now only has one member of the Pieres family left on its roster, but this match was a fierce battle that appeared to turn back the clock. La Dolfina were clear favourites, but La Ellerstina really made them sweat and it took a last ditch effort by Poroto Cambiaso to swing things their way. He scored to tie the match in the eighth and send it into an extra chukka, as well as scoring the winning sudden death goal. Both Poroto and Sapo Caset scored 12 goals each on the day, while Poroto's father Adolfito remarkably did not get on the score sheet, which shows how much his role in the team has changed at this late stage in his career. La Dolfina Saudi will now play La Natividad in the final, setting up a mouth-watering 80 goal clash!
