La Ensenada Crowned Champions of Jockey Club Open

On October 2, La Ensenada faced La Hache in the final of the Jockey Club Open at San Isidro Polo Club. Emerging from halftime with a one goal advantage, La Ensenada continued to create offensive drives in the second half of the match, including scoring six goals in the sixth chukker to emerge champions 17-12.

La Hache’s Salvador Ulloa opened the chukka, scoring one of two goals in the first. Juan Britos would score the only goal of the chukka for La Ensenada, as La Hache would put up two more to take the early lead. Hilario Ulloa would score once from the field and once on a penalty attempt for La Hache in the second. La Ensenada would answer with two goals of their own including a successful penalty attempt from Juan Martin Zubia. Beginning the third chukka, Zubia would convert another penalty attempt to score the first of three goals for La Ensenada, while holding La Hache to only one goal for the chukka. La Ensenada would continue it’s strong defensive play in the fourth, scoring two goals and leaving La Hache off the scoreboard entirely to take a 8-7 halftime lead.

The fifth chukka would see La Ensenada’s Bartolome Castagnola Jr. and La Hache’s Hilario Ulloa exchanging the only two goals of the chukka. Bartolome Castagnola Jr. would emerge in the sixth chukka for La Ensenada, scoring four goals on four field shots. Juan Martin Zubia and Juan Britos would each contribute another goal to La Ensenada’s six goal chukka. Unable to score in the sixth, La Hache was able to score four goals in the seventh, including two from Hilaro Ulloa, however, the deficit was ultimately too much to overcome, as La Ensenada secured a comfortable 17-12 victory.
