
La Irenita II and Los Machitos faced-off on October 27, in one of three matches of the day at the Torneo Clasificatorio Remonta y Veterinaria, in Pilar. Evenly matched throughout the game, La Irenita II broke through in the fifth and sixth chukkas to score a combined six goals, narrowly overtaking Los Machitos 15-14.

La Irentia II’s Tomas Fernández Llorente struck first, followed by a penalty goal from Martin Aguerre for Los Machitos. Agustin Garcia Grossi answered with a penalty goal of his own for La Irenita II as Victorino Ruiz Jorba finished the first with back-to-back goals from the field. La Irenita II took their momentum in the second scoring four consecutive goals, including two from Agustin Garcia Grossi as Victorino Ruiz Jorba and Aguerre each responded for Los Machitos. The two teams would trade goals in the third on a penalty goal from Los Machitos’ Aguerre and La Irentia II’s Facundo Fernández Llorente. Aguerre would add two more goals in the fourth and a quick response from Tomas Fernández Llorente for La Irenita II ended the half in an 8-8 tie.

Aguerre opened the second half scoring two goals for Los Machitos, as Tomas Fernández Llorente followed with one goal for La Irenita II, followed by Fernández Llorente and Aguerre trading goals in the fifth. Los Machitos began a high scoring sixth chukka on three consecutive goals, including two off the mallet of Ruiz Jorba. La Irentia II responded with two goals of their own from Fernández Llorente and Garcia Grossi. Tied 11 all entering the final chukka, Garcia Grossi pushed La Irentia II in the lead with his first goal in the sixth. Los Machitos responded with two final goals from Aguerre but La Irentia’s Tomas Fernández Llorente’s two goals from the field combined with one last scoring drive from Garcia Grossi ended the match with La Irentia II as 15-14 victors.
La Aguada Steady in Torneo Clasificatorio Remonta y Veterinaria Win
La Fija met La Aguada in the Torneo Clasificatorio Remonta y Veterinaria, at Pilar. Consistent play from both teams and tied at the half, La Aguada’s three goal seventh chukka propelled them to a 9-7 victory.

La Aguada’s Manuel Elizalde opened the scoring from the field as Ignacio Negri followed with a penalty goal for La Fija. The two teams would continue to trade goals in the second chukka with a goal each from La Aguada’s Miguel Novillo Astrada and La Fija’s Ezequiel Martínez Ferrario. Switching the scoring order for the first time in the game, Raúl Colombres found the goal first for La Fija in the third as Novillo Astrada followed for La Aguada. Elizalde scored his second of half with Felipe Vercellino adding another from the field for La Fija, as the two teams remained tied 4-all entering the break.

La Fijia would find some separation in the fifth as Negri struck on a penalty goal followed by a second consecutive goal from Martínez Ferrario. Trailing for the first time in the game, La Aguada was only to respond once off the mallett of Mariano González. The two teams would trade goals once again in the sixth with one each from La Fija’s Negri and La Aguada’s Elizalde. Carrying a two goal deficit in the seventh, Tomás Beresford found the goal for La Aguada for the first time in the match as González followed with two goals, including one on a penalty to lift his team to the win.
Alegria Fish Creek Seize Narrow Victory at Torneo Clasificatorio Remonta y Veterinaria
Alegria Fish Creek faced La Esquina in match play at the Torneo Clasificatorio Remonta y Veterinaria, in Pilar. Alegria Fish Creek were able to overcome an early deficit to overtake La Esquina at the half and would remain in the lead for the remainder of the game to take a close 11-10 victory.

Clemente Zavaleta would find the goal first for Alegria Fish Creek to open the game but La Esquina’s Cristian Laprida responded in quick succession with two goals, followed by Pascual Sáinz de Vicuña for their third of the chukka. Alegria Fish Creek dominated the second chukka, keeping La Esquina off the scoreboard while Bautista Bayugar and Joaquín Pittaluga combined for Alegria Fish Creek’s three goal chukka of their own. La Esquina’s Valerio Zubiaurre and Alegria Fish Creek’s Bautista Bayugar each traded goals in the third. Zavaleta began the fourth with a goal from the field as Bayugar added another for Alegria Fish Creek on a penalty conversion. Alegria Fish Creek’s Juan Ruiz Guiñazú also contributed a goal before the half and despite Laprida answering with two goals, La Esquina found themselves trailing 6-8 at halftime.

Emerging from the break Laprida maninted his momentum to find the scoreboard first for La Esquina in the fifth as Alegria Fish Creek’s Bayugar quickly answered with a goal of his own. The two evenly matched teams would trade goals once again in the sixth chukker while Cristian Laprida and Ignacio Laprida posted the final two goals for Alegria Fish Creek. Bayugar knocked in his sixth goal of the game for La Esquina but it would not be enough as time expired allowing Alegria Fish Creek to hold on for the victory.
