One of the core skills in polo is the ability to quickly identify your teammate and have the ability to lay-off the play in order to facilitate the ball to others.
Here is an example of a player successfully laying-off the ball to facilitate the play resulting in a goal:
- Player wins the throw-in at the front and takes control of the ball
- Lay-off to the teammate anticipating the pass back using horse power to beat the defenders
- Player from distance with an offside forehand into space
- Pass receiver moves into space and takes possession of the ball
- Player taps the ball into the goal
