Horsegate/Tonkawa and ML Bar Ranch continued play in the Carlton & Keleen Beal Cup on October 17, at Houston Polo Club. In a competitive start ML Bar Ranch carried a one goal lead into halftime and were able to build a strong offensive attack, scoring 7 goals in the second half to take the match 12-6.
Conceding one goal on handicap, Jimmy Seward got Horsegate/Tonkawa on the scoreboard first, followed by back-to-back penalty conversions from Shane Rice. ML Bar Ranch answered in the second with three goals, including two from Cody Ellis. Drew Luplow would add another goal from ML Bar Ranch in the third, taking a 5-4 lead at the half.
Emerging from the break, ML Bar Ranch’s Luplow and Ellis posted two goals each in the fourth. Abby Benton found the goal on a penalty shot for her first in the fifth chukka, as ML Bar Ranch kept Horsegate/Tonkawa off the scoreboard despite taking three shots from the field. Ellis struck once again for ML Bar Ranch in the sixth chukka, doubling the efforts of Horsegate/Tonkawa as 12-6 victors.
