Park Place Defeats Scone in U.S. Open Polo Championship®

International Polo Club

Scone made their debut in the 2021 U.S. Open Polo Championship® at the International Polo Club Palm Beach, facing Park Place for the third time on the season after splitting their first two meetings. Behind a strong first half, Park Place held off the USPA Gold Cup® champions to narrowly defeat Scone 9-8.

A tale of two halves, Park Place and Scone battled until the final seconds despite Park Place scoring the first seven goals of the game. Building a 7-0 lead on the reigning USPA Gold Cup® champions, Park Place looked to have the win secured but were held to just two shots in the second half as Scone fought their way back into the game on four penalty conversions from Peke Gonzalez. Producing eight goals, the potent Scone attack finished four goals below their season average as their first half struggles ultimately were the difference. Poroto Cambiaso led the comeback attempt for Scone, but the early offense from Ulloa and a game-saving backhand in the final moments secured the 9-8 victory.
