Penalty 5


The following is a Penalty 5 and Penalty 5b rule insight. 

Here is an example of a successful Penalty 5:

  • Player looks for space to pass the ball to teammate
  • Pass receiver moves into the space and collects the ball successfully
  • Safe ride-off by the teammate to allow the ball carrier to move forward
  • Taps ball into the goal

The following is a Penalty 1 rule insight. The Penalty 1 rule reads as follows: 

A player commits a dangerous or deliberate foul in the vicinity of the goal in order to save a goal. The team fouled shall be awarded one goal. The game shall be resumed with a Penalty 5b awarded to the fouled team and a change in direction.
