Player Feature - Felipe Vercellino

Felipe Vercellino

Felipe Vercellino was the stand out player of the NetJets Pacific Coast Open, leading his team to an easy 14-8 win over Carbenella in the final. A goal scoring machine, he racked up 25 goals for his Antelope side with 11 penalties (an impressive 73.3% accuracy from the penalty line) and 14 field goals.

Playing at number 3 for the team he moves effortlessly from attack to defense, anticipating the play, controlling the game and leading his team, creating space for them to move into and receive passes. He manages his teammates well, backing them up and communicating effectively to create seamless team combination plays which result in goals.

His overall shot on goal accuracy is deceptively average at 56% considering his accuracy on goal from within the 60 yards is an impressive 72.2%. But 11 attempts on goal from outside the 60 yards (with just 1 converted) is what is bringing down the average. This however is misleading. His attempts from goal outside the 60 not only result in chances at goal for his teammates (he is credited with 9 assists) but they also open up the game and move possession into his team's attacking zone to generate open team plays and scoring opportunities.

He excels in areas including:

Shooting
Field Awareness and Anticipation
