Player Insight - Nico Escobar

Nico
Nico Escobar had an unscheduled but very effective entry into the Gauntlet of Polo, subbing in for Lucas Diz Alberdi halfway through the USPA Gold Cup and going on to play the majority of the US Open Polo Championship where he scored 9 goals and was instrumental in helping the side reach the Quarter Finals where they narrowly missed out on a spot in the Semis due to a 1 goal loss against eventual finalists La Dolfina/ Catamount.

Nico's style of play is quick, clean and his stick and balling is technically excellent making him a very secure forward running player and a great asset to a team as someone to pass to who you know is going to make the most of any attacking opportunity. His ball control skills are impressive and he is a quiet yet powerful rider able to encourage his horses through manouevres that give him the upper hand in attacking plays.

He reads the play well and is able to anticipate the next moves, meaning he is often well placed for steals or quick passes up to outfox the defenders, often leaving him out alone in front and able to score undefended.
