Santiago Wulff stepped in to sub for Felipe Viana in the Joe Barry Memorial Cup, their team Zapican BMW going on to win the tournament in their first season of US polo. The 5 goaler made a great impact on the team. Despite playing in the number 4 shirt, a traditionally more defensive position, Wulff was very often well placed up front to receive passes from Nachi Viana and create plays which ended in goals or shots on goal from outside the 60 which although did not always score, opened up the play and moved the ball into attacking territory.
His versatile style of play saw his defensive skills also came to the fore as he created a strong defensive backline, intercepting opposing attacking plays either through being quick to pick up loose balls or from strong ride offs which won him possession and allowed him to switch the direction of play. Usually followed by long, lofted passes up field or quick backhands to his number 3 he was able to turn opposing plays into positive ones for his team.
