The stats on this player from the UK season do not do justice to his performance in both the Queen's and the Gold Cup. This young player worked extremely hard in the number 2 shirt and made a vital difference to his team's overall performance by creating space and opportunities for his numbers 3 and 4 to carry the ball and score. Teaming up with Pablo MacDonough (one of the highest scorers of the tournament) and Nico Pieres, his entire role was based on allowing these players to domiate in possession and this is a feat he achieved.
He not only created space by clearing his man and ensuring he was always first to the defensive line, moving up to take out threats to his teammates, but he also created plays themselves. By being so tight on his man, he was well positioned to steal and intercept at every opportunity before passing the possession on to his higher handicapped teammates with quick passes or by leaving the ball and moving quickly to take out any defensive threat. While these plays don't always get reflected in the stats, it is a vital team dynamic and one which he performed effectively throughout the season making the most of his quick thinking and smaller, agile ponies.
