Achieving success on the polo field requires the ability to quickly and cerebrally identify distance from the ball, your teammates and the defenders.
Here is an example of a player successfully regulating the distance between themselves and the defender resulting in a goal:
- Player looks for an unmarked teammate
- Player regulates distance when ball striking to receiving teammate to take possession of the ball
- Safe ride-off to allow receiving teammate to take possession of the ball
- Pass receiver moves into open space and takes possession of the ball
- Player taps the ball and scores
