Stealing the ball is one of the most efficient means of turning a defensive play into an attacking play. 

Here is an example of a successful steal resulting in a goal:

• Defender attempts to take possession of the ball and hits a defensive backhand
• Attacker from behind anticipates the defensive backhand and steals the ball from the defender before making contact
• Player taps the ball into the goal with the nearside half swing
