Hillcroft, recent winners of the USPA Midwest Open at Las Brisas Polo Club impressed throughout the tournament wth their seamless team play. This team's strength comes from their strategic player positioning and team combination plays. Their communication on the field has resulted in a dynamic that creates space for each player and allows for passing, backing up and running to space.
In defensive plays, they leave no gaps on the field, each player on a man or guarding space and as a result are able to intercept and steal the ball regularly, turning defensive plays into attack. In attacking plays they make great use of the forward players to ride off, take out defenders and create space for the second or third men to run through or pass up. They back up well, rarely leaving the running player alone, the second man covering their opponent and protecting the space behind the runner to ensure they are next to pick up should the ball be missed.
They excel in the following areas:
Ride-off
Combination Plays
Field Awareness and Anticipation
Steal
