After asserting their dominance in the first two games as the top seeded team in the H. Ben Taub Memorial at Houston Polo Club, ML Bar Ranch faced-off against BTA in a high scoring, competitive affair, emerging victorious 12-11 and securing the first spot in the finals.
ML Bar Ranch opened the scoring in the first chukker as Cody Ellis, Abby Benton and Joe Wayne Ellis posted three consecutive goals. BTA’s Nicolai Galindo also added a goal in the first chukka, setting off a very productive day from the foul line with a game total of six penalty goals on seven attempts. As goals were exchanged throughout the third, the two evenly matched teams entered the half tied 6-6. Entering the final half of the game Cody Ellis and Drew Luplow shone offensively as each scored a goal in the fourth, fifth and sixth chukkers. Their tandem contributions in the later half aided ML Bar Ranch’s 12-11 winning effort as they became the first team to advance to the H. Ben Taub Memorial final on September 26, 2021.
